Lesson Transcript

Hey you guys, my name is Teda and welcome to turkishclass101.com.
In this video we'll talk about renting an apartment using your Turkish.
So maybe you will come to Turkey to live here
and you will need some vocabulary and information on the subject.
So keep watching if so.
First of all, before we start with the related vocabulary and sentences,
let's talk about how you can rent an apartment in Turkey.
You can either use technology or go old school.
We have three major websites that you can check out for apartments.
hürriyetemlak.com, milliyetemlak.com and sahibinden.com.
I will put them somewhere here.
If you want to go old school, you can choose the neighborhood you want to live in
and find the local real estate agents.
Generally we have three to four real estate agencies in each neighborhood,
in big cities of course, such as Istanbul.
So you can call them and just visit them by the door
and tell what you want for an apartment.
Second thing you need to know, you can either rent an apartment empty or furnished.
General furnished apartments are harder to find but there are some for expats.
And empty apartments are really empty.
Generally no closets, no washers, no oven and anything.
And in Turkey we don't have a common washroom
so you will need one washer in your apartment.
But keep in mind some newer apartments may have some appliances.
So if you prefer those kind of apartments,
you should tell the agent or arrange your online search preferences accordingly.
We have a video called, I think it was the cost of living in Turkey,
in this channel and you can check it out for other details.
