Hi, guys! Welcome to Top Words. Today, we are going to be talking about 10 Things to Do in Summer in Turkish. Let’s begin!
1. Our first word is...
yurtdışı seyahatine çıkmak, meaning "to travel abroad"
Haziranda yurtdışı seyahatine çıkmayı planlıyorum. "I plan to travel abroad in June."
Have you ever been in abroad? What are your plans for this summer? Tell me in the comments.
2. Our second word is...
kumsalda keyif yapmak, meaning "to relax at the beach"
Kumsalda keyif yapmayı çok özlemişim. "I missed relaxing at the beach a lot."
Like me, I am desperate to relax at the beach. This winter was so long.
3. Our third word is...
TurkishClass101.com ile Türkçe öğrenmek. meaning "to learn Turkish with TurkishClass101.com."
Bu yaz için planım TurkishClass101.com ile Türkçe öğrenmek. "My plan for this summer is to learn Turkish with TurkishClass101.com."
You better learn!
4. Our fourth word is...
Türk yemekleri yapmayı öğrenmek, meaning "to learn to cook Turkish food"
Kız arkadaşımdan Türk yemekleri yapmayı öğrendim. "I learned how to cook Turkish food from my girlfriend."
What comes to your mind when you think of Turkish food? Probably Kebab. Have you ever tried one? Besides Kebab, I suggest you try the Aegean cuisine. Oh my god! This consists of mostly vegetables, but you are going to fall in love with them. I promise you.
5. Our fifth word is...
mangal yapmak, "to have a barbeque"
Haftasonu mangal yapalım. "Let's have a barbeque this weekend."
Since my childhood, we always have barbecues at weekends. It’s like a family tradition.
6. Our sixth word is...
sabaha kadar parti yapmak, meaning "to party all night"
Sabaha kadar parti yapalım!, "Let's party all night!"
Are you a party person or are you kind of a person who stays at home even on Saturdays? I was the party person when I was 18 years old, but now, I am the stay-home girl even on Saturdays. After a while, it just doesn’t get your attention except for birthdays and special events and party.
7.
Our seventh word is...
bronzlaşmak, meaning "to get a tan"
Hey girls, come here. This is my favorite sentence, “to get a tan”. I love their skin when it is summer, oh my god.
Buğday tenli insanlar çok kolay bronzlaşır. "People with olive skin get a tan easily."
So do you prefer to tan or do you prefer to stay in the shadows during the summer? Tell me in the comments.
8. Our eight word is...
dağ yürüyüşüne çıkmak, meaning "to go hiking"
Yarın okuldan arkadaşlarla dağ yürüyüşüne çıkacağız. "Tomorrow we will go hiking with friends from school."
So we have this Lycian Way in Turkey. It starts from Fethiye and goes until Antalya. It is 509km if I’m not wrong and I had the chance to hike just like 20km maybe. It was all about climbing all over the mountains, oh my god. And there was just red line signs in case you get lost because there are many tourists who get lost while hiking there. If you ever plan to do it, be careful and follow the red signs.
9. Our ninth word is...
yarı zamanlı işte çalışmak, meaning "to work a part-time job"
Öğrenciyken yarı zamanlı işlerde çalışırdım. "When I was a student, I used to work part-time jobs."
I’m still a student and I’m still working part-time, full-time jobs, whatever I can get, because I think it is important to feel your sea whip before college ends, before your actual career starts. Experience means everything during our age I think.
10. Our tenth word is...
arkadaşlarla eğlenmek, "to have fun with friends"
Moralin bozukken yapılacak en iyi şey arkadaşlarla eğlenmektir. "When you are feeling down, the best thing to do is to have fun with your friends."
Even if you are going to be sad and stay at home, you probably will need friends. For example, what do you like to do with your friends? To me, I like staying awake until the morning on the beach with a fire amongst us and singing songs. It may sound a bit like an old thing to do, but it’s a wonderful activity in fact. You have time to talk, you’re under the stars, campers will tell each other scary stories. In fact, during this technology/age, it is something that is rare for us.
