Lesson Transcript

INTRODUCTION
In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Turkish learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.

Merhaba Haya,

"Adınız nedir" is formal way of asking a person his/her name and "adın ne" is the informal way. But you can soften the formal way by saying "adınız ne".

Cheers,

Seda

Adeniz Nedir is one phrase. Adin Ne is another. Can we say Adeniz Ne? Or Adin Nedir? Or would that be wrong?

Thanks for this class. Much love from Pakistan.

Merhaba Bachir,

In Turkish, you in plural can be both "plural" or "singular but very formal". In this case "adın" is singular "your name", "adınız" is either plural or singular/formal "your name".

Hope it helped.

Cheers,

Seda
